Universal Studios, Orlando

A long fourth of July weekend, where better place to be than the happiest place on earth (nope I am not talking about Disney) for the rather, ehem, older crowd. I am talking about Universal Studios. Plus, there was also a reason why I chose to go Florida and not someplace else. Well, it also happens that one of my best buddies call the Sunshine State home, and for this trip I got to spend time with him and his family and also took a detour to the infamous theme park (and be aboard a helicopter too).

As my friend and his wife have two young kids, the family decided that it will just be the two of us to go Universal Studios. I like going to theme parks but I am not that hardcore when it comes to the rides, and it being Universal, being strapped to fast-moving roller coasters can be a little intimidating to say the least.

After taking the customary photo op in front of the rotating Universal Studios globe-landmark of sorts, we then headed in to check what the amusement park has to offer. My friend however gets a little queasy on rides, so that we both enjoy being there, we chose the 3D rides like those of Spiderman, Harry Potter and the Transformers instead. Hats off, Transformers was the best of the lot, with Harry Potter taking second place. We didn't get the chance to check out the other 3D ones and also because I actually found myself strapped to (and enjoying) those fast-moving roller coasters not just once but several times. And that one from the Wizarding World, thrice!

A visit to Universal Studios when in Florida is a must for everyone visiting the Sunny State. Getting an extra pass would have given us more opportunity to check some of the other rides without worrying about the long queue lines, but the waiting time was well worth it when catching up with a good friend you haven't seen in years.
