As my physical therapy contract days were about to end and soon moving back to the east coast, I wanted to see for myself what New Mexico is known for (or is it just Roswell?) other than chile. One fateful day in the mid-1940s an unidentified flying object crashed on a ranch in a New Mexican city southwest of Albuquerque. The conspiracy theories that ensued made the town of 55,000 people and an army facility, Area 51, buzzwords for anything ET. From Truth or Consequences where I lived and worked for almost a year, I made that 4-hour drive to Roswell for an alien encounter of my own.
I must say, I am not a local. I lived and worked in this town with an unusual name, Truth or Consequences (T or C), close to a year as a travel physical therapist and got to explore it on my own, sans any list. This recommendation hopefully might guide the first-time visitor who finds their way to this quaint little town on the Rio Grande and three hours south of Albuquerque.
What an interesting name for a city! Truth or Consequences, or T or C as it is called for short, is a small town situated south two hours south of Albuquerque, the biggest city in New Mexico, and an hour north of Las Cruces, another bigger town. These two other cities play an integral part of living in T or C because of its small size and population, around 5,000 people, there aren't much to do for a city person like myself.
Heehaw! What do you know? After five to seven years in the making, I will at long last practice my profession in the US and live the American Dream.
