Aloha, Hawaii

So I was told that Hawaii is one of the most expensive locations for a trip, that accommodations and basic food stuff would put a hole in your pocket. But this didn't this stop me going to the Aloha State after a Jamaica trip didn't push through. Hawaii was the last leg of my week-long vacation, after two-day stays in Chicago and Las Vegas. For this final destination, my travel buddy and I traveled to Oahu, one of the many islands that make up the Hawaiian archipelago.

Oahu is the third largest of these islands and home to one of the famous beaches in the world, Waikiki. I would recommend that if you are planning on going to Oahu, the best way to fully immerse in the experience is by booking your accommodation near the shoreline. Shelling out more to be by the beach is worth it. And with excellent research skills in booking hotels online, you will get one for a fair price, like we did--and the hotel was just across the street with an ocean view!
Waikiki Beach has a lot of foot traffic, but it's common for a vacation destination of this reputation. Also, my initial perception of Hawaii being expensive was unfounded. Of course, the hotel might be, but basic foodstuffs aren't. The ABC stores every 50-100 feet or so sell them affordably. Plus, if you are on a budget when it comes to meals for lunch or dinner, there are always fast food chains and local restaurants to try out. The buses can take you from point A to B no with no problem.

Waikiki's shoreline is great but not comparable to other famous beaches I have personally been to like Cancun, Mexico or Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I wasn't able to check the other beaches known for their surfing waves due to time constraints. But if you have the means and don't mind that many people on the sandy beach, choose Oahu and the Waikiki Beach area with tons of memories to bring home.
