Another popular attraction when in Chicago is a visit to the Willis Tower, previously known as the Sears Tower. So why would a skyscraper be part of your itinerary while in the Windy City? It's because of the SkyDeck or Ledge, a glass balcony out of the 103rd balcony. Yes, it's all glass, even the floor you're stepping on.
I and Travel Buddy on the SkyDeck/Ledge of the Willis Tower.
The Ledge extends about four feet where you get a scenic view of downtown Chicago. To get there, you must brave falling in line in a long queue, being ushered to a separate elevator that gets you to the 103rd floor, and along the way be educated about the Willis Tower, its history, and the likes. After about 30 minutes, we finally reached our destination. I think it would have been longer than that if we went there when it was not frigidly cold.

I don't have a fear of heights when I know 100% I am safe and secure, just like the Ledge enclosure, so stepping onto the platform was easy breezy for me, except for my travel companion! You should see the look on his face! But it was an experience. Although you can take pictures of your heart's desire on the public Ledges, I would recommend getting one from the private ones. For an extra fee, you get a better shot plus get to take pictures using your own devices while they process your pictures! Yes, additional photos when you have the Ledge all to yourself!
