Hell House in Ilchester Road, Ellicott City, Maryland is the stuff of urban legend. Once a Roman Catholic school called St. Mary's College, it was built in the late-1890s and was in operation until the 1970s. It was abandoned since, flagrantly vandalized, and set afire by arsonists in 1997. What remained of the old building was demolished in 2006. Because of its isolation up on a hill accessible through a long stairway, the narrow trails that wound around the premises, and the decaying altar deep in the woods, the College soon became known as Hell House to the locals with stories of Satanists and ghostly apparitions. Up to this day, it receives many hikers, the occasional curious visitors, and urban legend hunters. Word of caution: Try not to get lost in the woods.

Wow, this actually sounds like a cool place. The photographs are a little creepy, but abandoned places are usually the best photo spots. It reminds me of this place I recently visited in London. It was a bombed church that is now used as a garden.

For some reason, this reminds me of the Blair Witch haha (wasn't that also shot in Maryland?). I actually live in Maryland but have never been here. Looks creepy and haunted, I would NOT want to go here at night! Cool pics!

This place definitely looks creepy especially with all those barren trees! It makes for a great photo shoot though. ;)

Wow, looks so creepy, the stairs remind me of the stairs by the mississippi river in Minnesota where my mom lives, I could see myself going there as a youngster telling good ghost stories.

That is creepy. I am surprised they haven't refurbished the park lands and steps etc, as it actually looks like a lovely place to visit for a walk.
