For the price, you can't beat the location. Situated about 10-minutes from Newark International Airport and 5 minutes to the central train hubs, if you are looking for a just a roof over your head, an air conditioner that somewhat works, this hotel might work for you. My main reason for going to Newark was to meet a friend who works as a chef in a cargo ship, and this hotel was about 15 minutes from the port area. Talk about convenience!
The room was a good size, two beds, wooden floors (something I haven't seen in hotels), and the bathroom may need some renovation. But I guess it's the history that matters. Being there reminded me of American Horror Story's Hotel. From the outside, it looks grand. As soon as you step in, you are transported back in time: old elevators, old carpet flooring that leads you to your solace, or lack thereof, for the evening.
A ninety-year-old building, two-star rating on Google, one and a half on TripAdvisor, a possible sighting og Pikachu under the bed (nope, not that kind of Pikachu!), two dead people found in 2010 on the 6th floor, this hotel is not for the faint of heart and the picky traveler.
