After almost 9 months of working and living in New Mexico, I told my employer to move me back to Maryland. Maryland became my adoptive state as it was here where my American Dream took off. Maryland because its close to major urban US cities DC and New York. So back in the East Coast after a weeklong Polar Vortex and off for a few weeks from work, I booked a roundtrip bus to get back to NY, the city where I see myself settling in the future.
I wanted to replicate the kind of fun I had when I first had my foray into hosteling when in Las Vegas about a month ago. In my trip to Cancun, planned on my own and not through a travel agency or through purchase of a vacation package. I wanted to experience a night in a hostel and then move on to an all-inclusive hotel for the duration of my Cancun stay. On hostelworld.com, I came across Hostel Mundo Joven Cancun.
I was really looking forward to this trip as it would be my first time in Sin City, Las Vegas! And this adventure set the precedent to the passion that is traveling. I must admit that I got a little crazy planning this. Why? Because I booked two different accommodations for this, one on a budget (Hostel Cat) and the other on a luxury hotel (Trump). My though process prior to booking my reservations was I wanted to experience both.
I was told by a friend who couchsurfs and is a couchsurfing host that hostels can be a hit or miss. A hit when you get to hang out with the right group of people and a miss, the other way around. Plus, imagine sharing one room with 6 to 8 other people and sleeping in bunk beds! I just had to experience it for myself before making my own judgment. I'm the type that is not hard to please when it comes to accommodation. As long as the bed and bathroom is clean, I am good.
